For over 40 years, we have been signwriting in and surrounding Melbourne suburbs; in the early days, most signs were hand-painted, shopfronts to tradie vehicles, menus and banners. In the early 80s, we invested in new technology. We bought one of the first and expensive computerised vinyl letter cutting machines and adding full-colour digital printing along the way to provide a full-service signage company.
Walking home from school, Trevor remembers stopping by his local milk bar; a signwriter was painting on the window; he stopped to watch for a while and was fascinated with how steady the craftsman formed perfect letters from a few strokes the brush. From that day, he wanted to become a signwriter and, at 17 years old, signed up for a course at the Melbourne College of Decoration. After six months of training, Trevor was asked to paint a sign for hairdressers, not having a driver’s licence, hailed a bus to take him to work on his first job and carrying his trusty sign box. Within a few months of buying an HR Holden, he was on his way to his next career and a life long future in the sign industry.
